Jimmy George Sports Hub

 

History 

Established in 1987, the Jimmy George Stadium is named after Jimmy George, the first Indian volleyball player to become a professional, and considered to be one of the greatest volleyball players of all time. Currently it is known as Jimmy George Sports Hub. This spacious indoor arena can accommodate up to 2000 spectators and is equipped for being a practice venue for badminton and volleyball players. In addition to these, the stadium also offers facilities for playing basketball and handball, and training in gymnastics and taekwondo. The swimming pool facility in the hub is one of the top facilities in the entire district. The Hub is currently operated by Sports Kerala Foundation along with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Kerala. The Facility has a dedicated parking space for 100 four-wheelers and 150
two-wheelers.

The Shooting Range is situated in Vattiyoorkavu, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Vattiyoorkavu Shooting Range was established in 2015 as a part of hosting the 35th National Games in Kerala. Following the National Games, the facility has incorporated other sports like Table Tennis and Fitness centre. The complex is a multisport arena consisting of 10m, 25m, and 50m Shooting Ranges, a Fitness center, and a Table Tennis facility. The facility has an office space and includes parking space for approx. 100 vehicles at a time. It is used by National and International shooters for practice and runs holds the Kerala Shooting Academy. The gymnasium and table tennis facility is used by the general public as a part of training and coaching programmes. The facility is built in an area of over 3 acres of land.

Kumarapuram Tennis Academy – Tvm

Kerala Tennis Academy is situated in Kumarapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Kerala Tennis Academy was established in 2015 to host 35th National Games. After the National Games the facility has been used for Regular coaching programs, workshops, camps, tournaments. The facility can accommodate 200-250 spectators at a time. The facility has 4 synthetic courts which includes 3 indoor courts and 1 open
court. There is a concrete (floored) rally wall for practice. The facility has an Office/Administration block. It also has a dedicated gym,
currently only used by Regular Tennis Athletes. The facility has a parking space to accommodate 30-35 four-wheelers, which
is owned by an adjacent university college.
